Quantum technologies are reshaping the frontiers of computing, communication, and sensing — and at the core of this transformation is light. In this session, Dr. Vidur Raj, founder of Quanastra, will introduce the foundational principles of quantum mechanics, including qubits, superposition, and entanglement, and how these concepts are realized through advanced photonic systems.
A key focus will be on single-photon detection and the role of Superconducting Nanowire Single-Photon Detectors (SNSPDs)—the gold standard for precision quantum measurements. The talk will spotlight India’s emerging strengths in quantum hardware, along with a deep dive into Quanastra’s indigenous development of SNSPDs, thin-film optics, cryo-electronics, and custom quantum chip architectures.
The session concludes with a vision for the future — a roadmap from standalone detectors to fully integrated quantum photonic chips, positioning India as a global leader in quantum technology innovation.
